9. Language and Localization

Eventful Pro is fully translatable, and you can easily localize it into your preferred language using translation tools such as Poedit.

How to Translate Eventful Pro Using Poedit #

  1. Download Poedit: Poedit is a popular app for translating .po and .pot files. It’s available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
    👉 Download Poedit here
  2. Start Translating:
    1. Open Poedit.
    2. Load the default translation file: /wp-content/plugins/eventful-pro/languages/eventful-pro.pot
    3. Translate the strings into your target language.
    4. Save your translation. Poedit will generate two files:
      • .po → your editable translation file
      • .mo → the compiled file used by WordPress
  3. Name Your Files Properly: WordPress identifies localization files by their file names. The correct format is:
plugin-slug-language_COUNTRY.po
plugin-slug-language_COUNTRY.mo

Examples:

  • German (Germany): eventful-pro-de_DE.po and eventful-pro-de_DE.mo
  • French (France): eventful-pro-fr_FR.po and eventful-pro-fr_FR.mo
  • Spanish (Mexico): eventful-pro-es_MX.po and eventful-pro-es_MX.mo

Make sure to use the proper language code and country code as defined in WordPress Language Codes.

  1. Apply Your Localization:
    • Copy your .po and .mo files back into: /wp-content/plugins/eventful-pro/languages/
    • WordPress will automatically detect and use your translation if your site’s language (set under Settings → General → Site Language) matches your file naming convention.
