The Import feature allows you to quickly restore or transfer Eventful layouts (shortcodes/views) from one website to another using a JSON file. This is especially useful when moving layouts between sites, creating backups, or sharing layouts across multiple projects.

How to Import Eventful Layouts #
- Go to Eventful → Tools from your WordPress dashboard.
- Click on the Import tab.
- Click the Choose File button.
- Select the exported Eventful JSON (.json) file from your computer.
- Click the Import button.
Once uploaded, Eventful will automatically process the file and recreate all included layouts on your site. The import process usually completes within a few seconds.
What Gets Imported #
- Eventful layout views (shortcodes)
- All layout settings and configurations
- Display options, filters, styles, and controls associated with each layout
⚠️ Note: Imported layouts will be added as new Eventful views. Existing layouts will not be overwritten.
Best Practices #
- Always import files that were exported using Eventful → Tools → Export.
- Make sure the Eventful plugin is installed and activated before importing.
- For best results, import layouts on a site with compatible versions of Eventful and The Events Calendar.
Use Cases #
- Migrating layouts from a staging site to a live site
- Reusing layouts across multiple websites
- Restoring layouts from a backup
- Sharing layouts with team members or clients
