3. Live Keyword Search

Add a search box above the events, so visitors can find an event by typing a word.

  1. Open Content > Filter Events and turn on Keyword Search.
Eventful live search settings in Elementor: Keyword Search, Show Search in Live Filters, label and placeholder
Keyword Search with the search box shown.
  2. Turn on Show Search in Live Filters. A search box appears above the events.
  3. Leave Type Keyword empty, so the widget starts with all events.
  4. Type a Label for the box, for example “Search events”, and a Placeholder, for example “Try summit or workshop”. The default placeholder is “Search…”.
  5. Set the Max Width of the box (per device) and its Alignment.

Results update as visitors type, without a page reload. The search looks in the event title and description.

Search and filters together #

Add filters under Advanced Filtering as well, and visitors can type a word and narrow by category, venue or month at the same time. To keep the bar tidy, put the filters behind a button: see Show/Hide Filter and Reset Buttons.

A fixed keyword instead #

With Keyword Search on and Show Search in Live Filters off, the widget shows only events that match Type Keyword, with no search box. See Dates, Keyword and Hidden Events.
