Fixes for the most common problems, from no events showing to a missing Style tab.
No events are showing #
- Check that the events are published in The Events Calendar, not drafts.
- By default a widget shows upcoming events only. If all your events are over, set Type of Event to Past Events or All. See Upcoming, Past and All Events.
- Check Content > Filter Events: an Include Only list, a fixed date range, a keyword or Featured can leave nothing to show.
- Check the filter rows under Advanced Filtering. A row with Show Ajax Live Filter off still narrows the events.
The carousel or ticker does not move, or looks broken #
- Clear your page cache and any CSS or JavaScript optimisation cache, then reload.
- If a performance plugin combines or delays JavaScript, exclude the Eventful scripts (their handles start with
efpe-) from that option and test again. - Check the browser console for errors from other plugins. A script error elsewhere on the page can stop the carousel from starting.
Filters, search or Load More stop working on a cached page #
Filters, live search and AJAX pagination load events through admin-ajax.php with a security token that is written into the page. If a page cache keeps the page for longer than the token lasts, the requests fail.
- Set your page cache lifespan to 10 hours or less, or exclude pages with Eventful filters from the page cache.
- Make sure
admin-ajax.phpis never cached.
Venue names are not links #
With the free version of The Events Calendar, venues have no public pages, so there is nothing to link to. Venue links need Events Calendar Pro, which adds venue pages.
The Style tab is missing #
The widget is set to a pre-made template. Change Content > Template Styles > Template Type to Custom to get the Style tab back. See Style Tab Overview.
Notice: "Eventful Pro: some pages need restoring" #
An update before 2.2.0 could save the Elementor content of some pages incorrectly. Version 2.2.0 checks for this and, if it finds damaged pages, shows administrators this notice with a list of them. Nothing is changed automatically.
- For each page in the notice, click open the last intact revision.
- Check that it is the version you want, then click Restore This Revision.
- Open the page in Elementor and check it. Changes made after that revision need to be made again.
The notice goes away once the pages are restored. If a page has no earlier revision, open a support ticket. Developers can list the damaged pages with WP-CLI: wp eventful-pro check-data.
